Act it out!

By the end of this unit, we need to write a recount (diary entry) of Jim's escape from the workhouse using similes, however I knew that this would be tricky for us unless we really experienced it... The playground was transformed into 7 different stations to replicate events from the story. We worked together to act out the various events and then generated similes to create imagery in the readers' minds. We developed lots of ideas and certainly had a blast doing it at the same time! #gruel #carpetbeating #vilevictorians #streetchild #creativelearning
