This week our story has been The Gingerbread Man and what fun we have had! The children have made their very own gingerbread men to bake and decorate at home - we hope they didn't jump out of the oven and run away like the one in the story. We have used our senses to explore ginger water play, mark making in gingerbread crumbs, and worked on our fine motor skills manipulating gingerbread playdough. The children have used props to support their imaginative play and have experimented with construction tools to make bridges for the gingerbread man to cross the river, as well as houses for him to live in. When redaing this story with your little one, encourage them to join in with the repeated refrain - 'Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me I'm the Gingerbread man!'
This week, we have also introduced our Christmas advent calender! Each day we will be adding a bit of Santa's beard so that by Christmas Eve it is all full - then we know that Santa is on his way that night! Each child will bring their calender home with them for the Christmas break to continue with their own families.
