A group of year five children successfully applied to take part in a six week peer mentoring programme delivered by our schools Mental Health Support Team.

Over the course of these six weeks, the children have successfully developed skills in listening, communicating, empathising, building self-esteem and problem solving.

The children are now ready to go and undertake their role as ‘Sandon Saints’ (as named by the children themselves) on the KS2 playground. Here they will identify, support and advise peers who may be feeling lonely, have fallen out with a friend, need help problem solving or just need somebody to talk to.

These skilled mentors are at hand daily; helping to make our playground an even happier place to be.
