How it started...

In February 2025, we introduced iPads for every pupil in years 4 and 5. Building on the success of this initiative, we extended it in September 2025 to include all pupils from Years 2 to 6. Since starting, we’ve seen a marked improvement in pupil engagement, the pace and depth of learning, and the variety of activities accessed throughout the school day. The use of iPads has also significantly enhanced the accessibility of learning, particularly for pupils who may face barriers, supporting a more inclusive and personalised educational experience. Whilst impact on data outcomes is difficult to measure at this early stage, it can be seen in pupils’ enthusiasm, confidence, and ownership of their learning.

Learning what we see...

All teachers understand that the technology is a tool to enhance their practice & all children understand that the technology is a tool to enhance their learning.

All staff, in years 2-6, use the technology to ensure that they work smarter and in a way that best meets the children’s needs.

  • Feedback given is flexible, timely and purposeful.

  • Pace and quantity of learning has increased with children covering greater content.

  • Class teachers have stronger classroom awareness teaching away from the board.

  • Smoother transitions between tasks are evident resulting in reduced incidences of low-level behaviour.

  • Children’s engagement has increased when iPads are used-there is no option to be a passive learner.

  • Class learning is being shared and built on.

What's next?

As every teacher is years 2-6 is confidently embedding digital technology into daily teaching and learning, our next priority is to deepen staff awareness of the wide range of educational apps, functions and scaffolds available on iPads. Further empowering teachers to enhance the quality of teaching and creative approaches, supporting children to know more and remember more and strengthening inclusive practice.

We aim to develop our iPad usage in line with our online safety curriculum as we draw on pupils developing knowledge and skills to improve and lead on the development of online safety practices.

We will continue to reduce our carbon foot print and have a positive impact on the natural world.
